Nance Van Winckel

Nance Van Winckel is the author of three collections of poems: Bad Girl,With Hawk (University of Illinois, 1988), The Dirt (Miami University Press, 1994), and After a Spell (Miami University Press, 1998). She has also published three collections of short stories: Limited Lifetime Warranty and Quake(University of Missouri Press, 1994 and 1997), and Curtain Creek Farm (Persea Books, 2000). Quake received the 1998 Patterson Fiction Prize and was a finalist for the PEN West Fiction Award. Nance is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Literary Fellowship in poetry, a 1998 Washington State Artists Trust Award in fiction, and a 1998 Washington Governor’s Writing Award. Her poems and stories have appeared in many journals, including The Nation, The Paris Review, The American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, The Georgia Review, Ohio Review, Poetry Northwest,and Field.
