Sierra Nelson

Sierra Nelson is a poet and artist, receiving her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Washington. As co-founder and performer in the literary performance trio The Typing Explosion, Sierra wrote thousands of collaborative and spontaneous poems, which she and her group then made into books (T.Y.P.O., 13 Love Poems & One Ugly One), plays (Dear Diane; Merry Christmas, Anyway; This Is A Test), audio installations (Salon), and musical reviews (Love, Exciting Love). Her current performance group, the Vis-a-Vis Society, was commissioned by One Reel to create an interactive installation and performance for 2005 Bumbershoot. Sierra currently teaches middle and high school students at CLC Academy and co-leads creative writing workshops which draw on the Vis-a-Vis Society’s unique collaborative and performative process.
