Vic Chesnutt
Vic Chesnutt has been on the forefront of the recent contemporary folk rock movement in America. This Athens based singer-songwriter has recorded ten solo albums over the last 15 years, including West of Rome (1991) and Little (1990), both produced by Michael Stipe. He also recorded two albums with Widespread Panic, Co-Balt (2002) and Nine High a Pallet (1995). In 1996, Chesnutt was honored with the tribute album, Sweet Relief II: The Gravity of the Situation. The benefit album featured Madonna, Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M, and others covering the songs of Chesnutt, a paraplegic who was injured in a car accident when he was 18. Though his albums have been critical successes, Chesnutt is best known for his live shows. He toured Europe this summer with the Undertow Orchestra and has played shows with Ricky Lee Jones, Live, Soul Asylum, Bob Mould, Kristen Hersh, and Cowboy Junkies.
